I. The Lifetime Debt of Existence<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When the parent acts as Victor Frankenstein, the line “You were the one that gave me life”<\/em> takes on a literal, heavy meaning. In a narcissistic or hyper-controlling household, the gift of life is transformed into a lifetime debt. The parent’s voice, anxieties, and expectations are embedded into the daughter’s\/sons psychology from infancy, pulsing through her veins before he\/she even knows who he\/she is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

II. Shaming the Authentic Self<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When this son\/daughter attempts to assert an independent boundary or shows a personality trait that does not align with the parent’s grand design, she is met with the crushing reprimand that she is “too much.”<\/strong> She learns very early that conditional love requires complete compliance. She suppresses her natural inclinations, rehearses the role of the “perfect child,” and fractures her own identity to keep the peace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

III. The Trophy of the Ego<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

“You built me up then let me go \/ Lost myself to your ego \/ I tried to be the [child] of your dreams \/ But now I feel just like a freak”<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

A controlling parent builds their child up not for the child’s fulfillment, but as an extension of their own ego. The son\/daughter\u2019s achievements and appearance are micromanaged to project perfection to the outside world. But the emotional cost is catastrophic. By trying to be the dream child, he\/she internalizes a chronic sense of inadequacy. She\/He enters adulthood feeling like a “freak”<\/strong>\u2014unfit for genuine human connection because her true self was never allowed to grow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To secure safety, love, or validation from our creators, we perform surgery on our own souls. We tear out our genuine passions and boundaries, patching the gaps with “broken parts”<\/strong>\u2014anxiety, imposter syndrome, hyper-vigilance, and deep-seated people-pleasing tendencies. The final product is a synthetic self constructed entirely out of trauma responses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

II. Left in the Cold<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

“But you left me to be the monster \/ I let you engineer my soul \/ Then you left me in the cold”<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

This is the ultimate betrayal shared by the corporate worker and the controlled child alike. Just like Victor Frankenstein fleeing from his creature the moment it opened its eyes, our creators rarely take responsibility for the damage they inflict.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
